What type(s) of Yoga will we study?
The foundational teachings will be in classical Yoga Practices and traditions and the Eight Limbs of Yoga as taught by Patanjali. We will explore many popular styles and traditions of Hatha yoga including Kripalu, Vinyasa, Restorative and others. You will be able to find your own personal voice and style as we progress through the program.
If you are not already a student at Mandala Moon, we recommend that you come try some classes at the studio to be sure it's a good fit for you.

How much yoga experience is required?
We do not require years of experience in order to attend this teacher training; however, this is an intensive training. We will meet you where you are, but you must be willing to give up your weekends for these months of training and to put in time to study at home. A foundation will reduce the learning curve and provide a base for deeper comprehension. The real determining factor of success is your passion for learning and willingness to come prepared with an open mind, to jump in and immerse yourself in the teachings. You will get out of this training what you are willing to put in.
What books are required and will they cost extra?
Your tuition includes a student manual. The five required books, listed below, are extra. Most of these books can be found on Amazon for under $20. These will serve as study material during the course. You are not required to read them before the program, though it is encouraged if you are in a position to do so. Homework will be assigned from the books to coordinate with each week's lessons. The recommended books are not required and will not be assigned.

Is all of the training in person? What about COVID?
Many studios were forced to take their training online during the pandemic. We believe that the experience of an in-person training and the bonds formed with classmates are an important part of the YTT experience. To ensure everyone's safety, we will be keeping the classes very small (for maximum social distancing), and we will follow all current CDC safety protocols. If protocols change, we will adapt. If the weather permits, some of our spring classes will be outdoors.
If students are required to quarantine on training dates, we will make arrangements to include them via Zoom, or we will help them make up those sessions.

What is the time commitment?
Class participation and attendance is required for full 200-hour certification.
Legitimate excused absences such as illness, work conflict, or family issues will be considered. One excused absence (8 hours total) does not require a make-up session, though you will need to know the material covered.
