The journey to yoga and the journey through yoga is different for each individual person. Personal experiences, life changes and health are just a few factors that make each journey personal and unique. Truly, any body can practice yoga.
My journey began in my 40’s. I had always tried to keep active, but was looking for something more, something different to add to my personal wellness. A friend suggested I attend a yoga class with her. I was immediately drawn to the movement, focus and inward body-mind awareness the class provided. Fast forward to December 2021, when I decided that I would retire from my job as an elementary teacher at the end of the school year. After 32 years in education, what would my new purpose be once the job ended in June? While attending a series class at Mandala Moon, I found the answer. Dena would be offering a Yoga Teacher Training that March here at Mandala Moon. This was perfect timing and what I feel was meant to be! The YTT training I received was above and beyond my expectations. Teaching others about the endless benefits of yoga and deepening my own personal practice have become elements of this new phase of my life. All part of my continuing yoga journey.
As a yoga teacher, I hope to create an environment where each student will feel comfortable, capable and present, listening to their own body. I hope to guide each student through a practice that encourages the connection between body, breath and mind.
No one’s yoga journey is the same, but I believe there is a journey in all of us!
