Andrea VanBeusichem, RYT 200

When I was in middle school, back in the mid-1980s, our gym class was divided between boys and girls. I don’t know what the boys were doing on the other side of that gym. In fact, the only thing I do remember about middle school gym class is the time we learned aerobics! Back then, I was a bit of a “tomboy” but when the two instructors (schoolmates’ moms, no doubt) came in with their leg warmers and had us doing the grapevine, pivot turning, clapping, and wooing, I felt I had found an integral part of myself!
Fast forward to adult life as a single mom, new to the Marcellus area, when I met my first friend in town, Dena! I saw the work, the dedication, the heart that she put into becoming a Yoga Teacher. I dabbled in yoga back then, but did not have a practice. I became certified in Turbo Kick Cardio Kickboxing and in PiYo, and taught fitness classes for several years. With PiYo, I began to appreciate the physical benefits of yoga, and after becoming certified in Yoga Shred™ all of my fitness classes became “Yoga-Inspired”!
A love of fitness and interest in cooking lead me to pursue training in nutrition. I studied and became certified in Functional Nutrition. It was a pursuit to help me address my own health issues, but became a passion I am inspired to share with others as a Functional Nutrition Guide.
Through all of this, my friend Dena grew both her personal and professional yoga practices. And finally, in the early 2020s, because I needed not only the physical, but also the mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, I developed a practice by taking classes at Mandala Moon. With each class, through each series I experienced, I fell more in love with the magic of yoga! I knew I had to share it with others! I am so honored that I was able to study and become a Certified Yoga Teacher under Dena’s tutelage, as part of Mandala Moon Yoga’s first teacher training cohort.
My “day job” finds me working with people in nature. It is yet another way to help people connect with themselves and the universe. Like yoga and fitness, nature touches each person in their own unique way. It brings me hope to watch people find beauty, strength, inspiration, and dare I say refuge, as they spend time in and learning about nature!
Now, at Mandala Moon Yoga, I will combine all of these experiences and passions in classes for you! Through my classes, I hope to help people understand that practicing yoga and fitness is for everyone and every body. Through the movements of fitness and yoga, and through the inner journey these practices inspire, you can improve your overall well-being. I am honored to walk with you on your unique path to wellness and I am excited to share my knowledge and passions with you!
