Mallory Leader, RYT 200
Yoga, to me, is such a blessing. I took my first yoga class in 2015 during a very pivotal time in my life. I was in a treatment center, and I had been struggling with my mental health among many other things. When I walked out the door of that first yoga class, I felt bliss. From that moment on, I knew I needed yoga in my life. I found that my yoga practice helped me cope with and understand my anxiety; it gave me space to love myself fully; and it greatly improved the state of my mental health.
Years passed, and I continued to practice yoga and slowly began to realize that I wanted to do more than practice; I wanted to share the sacred teachings of yoga with everyone I could. I looked into training options, but couldn’t find anything that would work for me at the time. I held onto my dream as I also fulfilled others, always keeping yoga with me throughout all the obstacles that faced me.
Fast forward many years, many ups and downs, the birth of my first child, and years of working in the service industry--the stars aligned and I was finally able to take my training and became a yoga teacher! I got my certification right here at Mandala Moon Yoga, and I am so honored and grateful for the opportunity to teach here. I found Mandala Moon at a time I knew I needed to change my workload and knew I needed to start teaching. I spent my days as a stay-at-home mom with my daughter, while also working nights and weekends. I got lost in the hustle of life. I was tired, my body was often in pain, and my mental health was starting to deteriorate again. I was learning how to navigate motherhood for the first time while still trying to contribute financially to my family, and I often pushed my yoga practice aside. It seemed like this yoga teacher training found me rather than me finding it. It really felt like a sign, and I knew I needed to listen. I needed to get back into a daily practice, and I knew that my passion resided in mental health, physical well being, and connection of mind, body and spirit. I also had a new found passion in the emotional well-being of children after watching my daughter grow and navigate her own difficult emotions and feelings that often come in those early years of development.
My goal is to share yoga with as many people as I can because it has helped me in ways I never imagined possible, and I know it can help others too. On the bad days, the good days, and every day in between, yoga is for every body, and I want everyone to feel welcome, safe, and comfortable in my classes. I hope to offer a safe space for you to meet yourself exactly where you are and connect with your true self, taking your yoga practice off the mat, and into your daily life.
