Janis von Borstel
After retiring from the corporate safety world, I fell in love with teaching dance again. I became a Zumba Instructor in 2010 and taught on and off as time permitted. Dedicated to my Zumba roots, I am trained to teach almost all of its disciplines including Basic 1 & 2, Step, Toning, Gold, Gold Toning, In The Circuit, Circl Mobility, and a number of special rhythms.
I enjoy incorporating as many different types of fitness as I can, so I have taken additional courses in Pound, Pole Dancing, Belly Dancing and Line Dancing. Additionally, I became certified as Group Fitness Instructor with the Athletics & Fitness Association of American (AFAA) in 2010.
After a little push from my current students to start a chair yoga class, I found my way to Mandala Moon to learn more about yoga. Over the course of 200 hours of training at Mandala Moon, I have found a new passion. I can’t wait to start creating classes that interweave my different dance skills with yoga.
Another retirement passion is hiking with my husband and two dogs daily. As an Ambassador for the Finger Lakes Trail, I hope to marry yoga with hiking in the future too.
